Chris Miller--Accordion. www.bayouroots.com. This is my second attempt at demonstrating that a piano accordion can play Cajun Music. There are some limitations to the sound quality of these YouTube files, so take that into consideration. Comments on the first performance (Chere Toute Toute) indicated that the "bass accompaniment" made it sound more like Clifton Chenier or "traditional piano accordion-like." This time I removed the treble grill for the brightest tone and didn't play any bass side. I also tried to simulate the bellows motion of a diatonic in this performance. It has been a fun project to get the piano accordion to "speak Cajun." Most of the instructional material and sheet music for "Cajun" piano accordion that I have seen is very lacking in trying to capture the sound and style that I am demonstrating here. Also remember--some people "hear with their eyes!" It can be hard to convince someone while they are staring right at the big accordion! -- maybe a "blind test" is forthcoming?
